ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL OF DALLAS ANNOUNCES 2010 DATES
Expansion to Two Theatres, Names First Four Films
The Asian Film Festival of Dallas launches another year of amazing work from Asian and Asian-American artists at its 9th Annual Film Festival, taking place July 23-29 at Landmark's Magnolia Theatre and Angelika Film Center Dallas.
FIRST FOUR TITLES ANNOUNCED
Today, AFFD announced four films that will screen at this year’s festival, including the hotly-anticipated sequel to 2009’s Audience Award winning film, a romantic charmer, a genre shocker, and a star-studded crime drama.
“And this is only the beginning,” said Crystal Decker-Norwood, AFFD Director of Programming. “These first four selections are just a sampling of the types of films we’ll be bringing to viewers, and we’re proud of the scope of our selections. From family-friendly features to horror films, samurai epics, anime, comedy, drama, and documentaries, there’s something for everyone, no matter what type of film you love,” she said.
AFFD Fans on Facebook and Twitter will also get advance information on titles and special events leading up to festival week. “It pays to follow us on these sites,” Decker-Norwood said. “We’ll be sneaking titles here and there, doing some advance events. The fans are going to be thrilled.”
SEVEN DAYS, TWO VENUES, 40 FILMS
Since AFFD’s creation in 2002, the annual film festival has grown to become the South’s largest showcase of Asian and Asian American cinema. Over the last eight years, the festival has provided opportunities for nearly 300 Asian and Asian American filmmakers and documentarians to share their vision, often providing the only venue for their films to be shown in Dallas. The films have also allowed festival goers a chance to experience other lives and cultures without leaving their seats.
Passes are currently on sale through www.affd.org.
